about me
I am Heather Burkinshaw and I work in the East of England, mainly in the Cambridge, Ely, and Newmarket areas.
I am a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered counsellor having completed 450 hours of a BACP accredited integrative counselling diploma. BACP is the self regulating body of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am also a member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK) a self regulating body for playtherapists.
I am a holder of a Criminal Records Bureau clearance certificate.
I like to work with the creative arts and use paints, clay, sand-tray and other art media, as well as conventional listening skills.
I work with adults, young people, children and young people with learning difficulties.
I work in an integrative way but with a strong person-centred influence, and offer support for work related problems as well as emotional and relationship problems, loss or bereavement, abuse and depression.
I have also worked with young people who have been through or are going through the judicial system using cognitive behavioural therapy, and offered support to their families, at this difficult time.
I can facilitate groups of children, young people or adults to either look at specific problems, such as bullying, poor behaviour or trauma.
If you would like to talk to me about receiving counselling / psychotherapy or would just like more information on the benefits of counselling, please call me on 01353 624375 or email
