Counselling

Counselling (therapeutic counselling) helps to explore feelings and offers a client a regular space and time talking to a counsellor about an issue or difficulty that is distressing to them, such as relationship problems, job loss or bereavement.

Each session is conducted in privacy and in confidence.

In counselling the client tells the counsellor as much or as little as they want. It is the counsellor’s role to listen to the client and help them explore their thoughts and feelings, in a confidential, non-judgemental environment. By listening to the client, the counsellor aims to see the situation through the client’s eyes and reflect it back, so that the client may see their situation more clearly. By exploring the issue more deeply, the client may be able to bring about the necessary change in their life – have a “light bulb” moment where the way forward becomes crystal clear for them, or they just think “ah ha, that’s why I feel like that”.

Counselling is for anyone with a problem that they feel is not solvable on their own.

I work in an integrative way but with a strong person-centred influence, and offer support for work related problems as well as emotional and relationship problems, loss or bereavement, abuse and depression.

I have experience of working with children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) / Asperger Syndrome and their families.

I have also worked with young people who have been through or are going through the judicial system using cognitive behavioural therapy, and offered support to their families, at this difficult time.

I can facilitate groups of children, young people or adults to either look at specific problems, such as bullying, poor behaviour or trauma.

I will give home visits in cases where the client is unable to leave their home through illness.

I have a Criminal Records Bureau certificate of clearance and I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework.

If you would like to talk to me about receiving counselling / psychotherapy or would just like more information on the benefits of counselling, please call me on 07926058582 or email
